June 2011 Bibliography : p. 38-40 INTO AND OUT OF WORK

This working paper presents findings from research commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and funded by an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) CASE PhD studentship in collaboration with DWP. The study had two main aims: first, to examine the benefit and activation policies in other Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries which are most effective in assisting partnered women into work; and secondly, to assess the transferability of these policies to the British context. The research examined reforms in Australia and Denmark and concentrated on policies and programmes focusing on lone and partnered parents (Australia) and married couples (Denmark). The paper considers the key policy components from the two case study countries and offers a number of possibilities for policy transfer and translation.
