October 2000

The purpose of this project is to explore the consultation process used by staff at Just Essentials, the Brotherhood of St Laurence's material aid service in Frankston, and to consider the potential for more active participation of service users in social action in other Brotherhood services, using such a process. The Just Essentials' process involved consultations with service users that identified and documented the impact of social issues on low-income households. Two of these issues were researched further and the results used by the Brotherhood's Social Action and Research unit.
