Abstract: Looking back, looking forward Interpreting personal stories in later life Ashley Carr, Helen Kimberley and Simon Biggs 2013 The Brotherhood of St Laurence is a non-government, community-based organisation concerned with social justice. Based in Melbourne, but with programs and services throughout Australia, the Brotherhood is working for a better deal for disadvantaged people. It undertakes research, service development and delivery, and advocacy, with the objective of addressing unmet needs and translating learning into new policies, programs and practices for implementation by government and others. Ashley Carr is a Research Officer, and Helen Kimberley is Acting Senior Manager, in the Retirement and Ageing transition team in the Brotherhoods Research and Policy Centre. Simon Biggs is Acting General Manager of the Research and Policy Centre, and Professor in Social Policy and Gerontology at the University of Melbourne.
